God Loves EVERYONE

The Westboro Baptist Church of Kansas applied for a permit to be able to protest near Moore High School in Moore, OK. This is the same group that brings you the hate filled website: God hates **** (vulgar word for homosexual people).

Their message is extremely dangerous. On their website they state that "God Loves Everyone is the greatest lie ever told". Here's an exerpt from their website:

"As a matter of uncontroverted fact the phrase 'God loves everyone' never appears in the Bible. You can search from Genesis to Revelation, including looking in all 66 books, 1,189 chapters, 31,173 verses and 774,746 words and you will never find this phrase. Period. In other words, the most famous Christian notion of God that is repeated without measure or limit in this evil and adulterous generation is never found in the Bible".

What's truly amazing to me is that the verse that they use to dispute this "lie" is the very verse I would use to prove its validity.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

They emphasize the words "whosoever believeth" as the key to their message: "God only loves those who accept Christ as savior".

Oy. Oy. Triple Oy.

Reading John 3:16 again I see this progression: God So LOVED the WORLD that He gave us JESUS... and whoever believes in JESUS will be saved. God loves us... whether we love Him or not.

God loves us, whether we accept Him or not.

Thankfully for Westboro Baptist... God loves us, whether we stage harmful and hateful protests or not.

Here's the key thing to remember. God loves everyone. Agape love... Its unconditional love. However, though he loves us that much, we still can face eternal separation from Him if we never accept Christ's sacrifice on the Cross.

God will still love us... but if we do not choose to accept Christ as our Savior we will be eternally separated from Him.

When Christ came into different cities He didn't start calling the sinful people by derogatory names. He didn't scream at them and tell them that God hated them. He LOVED them.

An adulterous woman was thrown at Jesus' feet. Men with rocks in hand salivated over the chance to serve this woman with their brutal justice. They asked Jesus what they should do with her. His answer stunned them and shamed them.

Let those that have NO sin throw the first stone.

It is time for groups like the one from Westboro Baptist put down their stones. You are destroying the message of Christ with every protest. You are not bringing people to God; you are shoving them away.

Drop your stones Westboro Baptist. Please, drop them now. Unless you were born without sin... it's time to show love... not hate. No one has ever been truly brought to Christ through hatred. They are brought by God's love.

Jeremy Lewis, Moore Police department PIO, says, "For some reason, they say that God hates several different things including Moore High School."

He goes on to say, "I assume that's why they're protesting Moore High School. Why they picked Moore High School, I have no idea."

The protest is scheduled to take place between 2:45 and 3:30 Monday afternoon. Moore police officers said they'll be prepared and they are calling in extra patrol officers during that time.

Your signs are disgusting, your words are hateful, and your message is destructive. It is time to show love - not hate. You are right about something. The exact phrase "God loves everyone" is not in the Bible. God just figured it went without saying.

Please pray for these people to do the right thing.

  1. Thank you for posting this, Bob. There is deadly a disease running through the "church" right now -- there are people so blinded by prejudice, jealousy, and hate that they have forgotton how crucial it is to "love your neighbor as yourself". I am concerned for the Body of Christ. Thank you for making this serious issue more public.
    (Hope to see you soon!!)

  2. Thanks Chelsea. I couldn't agree more. For every step forward the church takes, a group like this sets us back 5 more steps...

What I shared on the blog isn't even the worst of the hatred and filth coming from this "church".

God needs to come down and personally close the doors on this group! :)

Sorry it didn't work out, but we'll be glad to see you guys!
