Resolutions were made to be broken

Every new year brings a promise of doing something in your life better, or making yourself better in some way. Do you want to lose weight? Or maybe you want to write a book. Too often we set the same goals year after year only to forget them on January 2.

We need to change that. A resolution should be just that: having the resolve to change something in our lives that we don't like. It's about getting motivated and disciplined enough to go through with those promises to ourselves.

January 1 is just another day on the calendar. There is nothing special about that day. However, we often feel like we need a starting point or a benchmark to look at. Its a target, if you will, that seems like a good place to begin at. There's nothing wrong with making a resolution; as long as we can resolve to really change this year.
